Happy TGIF!!!!! Awesome awesome awesome, public holidays are ALWAYS filled with all sorts of awesome. Today's post will be about Maison Ikkoku, finally met up with my beloved Huili after quite some time....almost a year I'd say!? Known her since secondary school, and she hasn't changed one bit. Still a very mischievous little girl. HAHA. Well, let's just say that we used to be very mischievous back in school together ;) Felt so good to finally be able to catch up with her!

Maison Ikkoku has 2 levels, one is the cafe at level 1 and the boutique, and then the bar is upstairs. Apparently they used to have 3 levels, but 2 now.

They're well known for their coffee! But....I don't drink black coffee :(

She says hi!

My chunky egg wasabi sandwich with wholemeal bread.

I don't remember what she ordered. They only had 8 choices for their gourmet sandwiches, and they ran out of a few pasta/salad items by the time we headed down. So we had to settle for the sandwiches.

We ordered a carrot cake and vanilla latte to share. Initially we wanted to leave the drinks for the bar upstairs but we thought it's quite stupid to not drink coffee at a place well-known for its coffee. Even the guy at the counter was surprised we didn't want to order any coffee. Eeps.

She likes to insist that her Samsung phone's camera is better than mine :(

Had an awesome time catching up over dinner, the food made us really full. Couldn't finish the sandwiches and maybe we should have shared just one! We ended up eating half the sandwich and just the fillings for the other half.

Welcome to Level 2, Maison Ikkoku: The Art of Mixology. No, please don't ask for a menu at a bespoke bar. As usual, it's a small and cozy bar with the just a few seats. Many would opt to sit at the bar counter, because that's where all the magic happens anyway. Watching the bartenders flaming scallops and marshmallows, making cotton candy and doing all they can to present the best drink (taste and visual wise, of course) to you. Basically, just doing their thing.

Once you step in, they'll ask how you are feeling that day. Happy, sad, feeling for some sweet or sour, or something refreshing? I had a salted caramel cocktail, more than just yummy... Sweet and salty all at the same time. Love it!♥

Huili had a fruity, blackberry drink. She seems to like it, but she said she preferred mine. Hee.

So we asked for something marshmallowy. I haven't had the chance to try the marshmallow drink ever since the other time that I read about it online. So they whipped this up, complete with 2 roasted marshmallow sticks on it. The drink was some hazelnut flambe thingy, which I don't remember the full name of...

The bill for the drinks came up to $78 in total, the initial cocktails were $25 each, and the last one was $28. That is the normal pricing of cocktails in a bespoke bar, where each drink costs about $22 to $28. I can't deny that the concept is interesting, you can ask for almost anything under the sun. Buttermilk, tom yam martini, chocolate banana, you name it they have it. After all at a bespoke bar, they make the cocktails from scratch according to your personality, mood and taste.
