008 - Bangkok Dangerous Part II

Rise and shine!!! DAY 3 of Bangkok! We woke up and ate custard puddings we bought from Terminal 21 yesterday, earl grey and caramel flavours. Uhm, the puddings were too sweet for our liking but came with small little cute glass bottles and packaging. Am such a sucker for cute packaging.

We finally managed to find the right wanton mee stall at Petchiburi 19!!! The queue outside the shop attracted my attention and viola, there it was!! The famous one that Singaporean bloggers usually rave about. Baby mentioned that it was easier to spot the stall by the chef's golden spiked up mohawk, pretty true indeed. We shared a bowl of dry wanton mee because we had planned our lunch at our next destination. It was really yummy and cheap, about SGD$2? The dry one didn't come with a bowl of soup and was sold separately. The soup tasted kinda weird though, like a bit sour.

After that, we took a cab to Siam Paragon!! Next foodie destination was: Mr Jones' Orphanage. There is another branch located at Seenspace but Thong Lor is really far away from Pratunam.

I must say the whole hype about this cafe is the visual merchandising and outlook of the shop. Cakes of all sorts are stacked on a really high brass tier when customers enter the shop. The cakes are colorful and eye-catching, they even have a big cake that resembles a huge Oreo.

The whole concept of the cafe is toys and cakes. Teddy bears of all sizes don the cafe, along tables and chairs. Each table has a vintage bowl filled with the small army figurines that people of my age has definitely seen before. When you dig out all the toys, you are left with a quirky message such as "Eat your vegetables" or "Listen to your mother". I guess when you have nothing to do, just line them up. These army figurines acted as props for those who like to take pictures of their food before eating. Perfectly apt for the Thais, who are super Instagram addicts!! That's how strong the social media is, a picture speaks a thousand words and word of the digital mouth spreads!

We ordered 4 cakes in total in order to try those that we liked. Red velvet, strawberry cake, Fererro cake and chocolate molten lava cake. I also had a small bottle of bubblegum milk and Woody had a cuppa of hot chocolate! The cakes there...were nothing special to be honest. It was really the concept that drawed the neverending queue of customers. The drinks were okay though, the chocolate molten lava cake was the best!!

After our meal, we went to pay at the cashier counter. We recognised the founder of Mr Jones' and managed to snap a shot with him! Lousy photo thanks to his really tall Caucasian friend. He talked to us briefly and were surprised we weren't Thai. He said, "Wow you guys ate so much!". HAHA. And mentioned he liked Singapore and wanted to come here because it is so clean (that's what all the foreigners say, isn't it?

Next up, CHATUCHAK!! Took a tuktuk there, not many were willing to send us there because it is really far.. The weather was soooo hot as it was around 2PM plus 3PM? Kinda late for Chatuchak!

Coconut ice cream, how I miss you so. Mandatory food for every trip to CCT, plus they come with free cups of coconut juice yumyumyum. The old Suan Lom Night Market used to have a very very very nice one, but the whole market closed down...

His virgin coconut ice cream!! Perfect for the crazy weather.

Not many pictures at CCT because it was so crowded and the hot weather was making me really vexed that I'd rather not talk at all... Mosquitoes were all over the clothes and shops, but that place is full of hidden treasures!!

We went back to our hotel to have a bath and change out from our sticky outfits and headed to the next place...ASIATIQUE!!

Chanel FUCCK tees, hee. We took the BTR to Saphan Taksin.

After a good 10 minutes on the ferry, we are here at Asiatique! We didn't go ride on the ferris wheel because there was no time, but it seems to be moving like really fast O_O

We settled for dinner at a Japanese restaurant there called Kacha Kacha. Apparently, it is a popular tepanyaki and yakitori chain from Nagoya. It was really crowded and we were lucky to be able to grab a good spacious seat in just minutes. The restaurant is filled with greetings and shoutings and a really annoying Japanese song on repeat. After eating at this restaurant, it makes me crave for more yakitori!!

We spent the last hour shopping around, but there was nothing much to buy. The things were more pricey but more unique than the usual shopping places. Asiatique is afterall, supposed to be the new replacement for Suan Lum Night Market! We managed to catch the last ferry which left earlier than expected. Lucky us!! :)

At night, we went to Chan Thai massage for a good relaxation. I fell asleep though, and snored. Too good! Zzzz~

Day 4 in BANGKOK DANGEROUS. We were heading to Siam area for that day!

Can't help but to try this crepe stall on the left of Shibuya 19. Banana and nutella, heaven please!!

We walked all the way to Siam. Kinda far but quite convenient due to the skywalk linkway. We went to Zen and Centralworld briefly on the way as well.

We settled for lunch at Greyhound Cafe and never regretted it.

Gotta love the black and white theme of the cafe, everything is so inspirational, so serene.

The food there was goooood, especially the famous chicken wings! So crispy yet so sinful. Woody had a pasta while I had a burger with bread made with squid ink hence the black buns!

The sporting waiter, okay....maybe he wasn't that willing. Hahaha, aww at their cute uniforms!!! Tha Thais are so creative in everything they do.

We walked around after lunch and saw this roadshow activity whereby you can draw something and post it up onto the digitalized balloons!! We had some student help us take out photo, then someone else posted their stuff up and replaced ours real quick :(

We went to Siam Square and walked streets that i have never explored before. So many hidden gems in that street! Was trying on a top and the zipper got stuck........awkward much.

Fat cat is fat.

We walked till dark and were carrying a heavy load of stuffs and walked through the entire Siam Night Market. Bravo, bravo. The motivation to shop is strong indeed....hahaha. Headed to Asiatique at about 8PM because we think that we didn't cover much yesterday night. But in the end, we didn't buy much nor did we eat there. HAHAHA. Instead, we took away MacDonald's and went to our hotel to eat..

Part 3 of BANGKOK DANGEROUS up next! :D
