Funny how we managed to see this surprise birthday set up by our hotel only on the next day itself. LOL.
It must have been because we came back too late yesterday night and the hotel staff decided to just leave these inside the room. Super sweet gesture, I'd say! Major thanks to Renaissance Hong Kong Harbour View Hotel!!
Happy belated birthday, love!
Before we left for the day to check out lotsa cafes and eateries~
Today's agenda: Wan Chai & Sheung Wan~~~ We discovered that Lee Tung Avenue in Wan Chai was a super pretty stretch of road!
And there was an Omotesando Koffee!
They look like scientists in lab coats.
Minimalist decor.
An iced latte to go!
Omotesando Koffee
Shop no. 24-25,G/F., Lee Tung Avenue, No.200 Queen's Road East, Wanchai, HK
Walking further up, we saw a Calbee shop!
The last time we had these freshly fried Calbee chips were in Japan, so we had to try them againnnn.
We got the Hong Kong exclusive flavour - Typhoon Shelter Spicy, which was inspired by the city’s famous typhoon shelter spicy crab. And damnnnn, was it spicy!!!!
Couldn't help but to sweep the entire shop off into bags of snacks as souvenirs for friends and families.
Interestingly shaped building in Hong Kong, reminiscent of the flat iron building in NYC?
Came across this huge wet market area. This looks something out of an animal version of SAW.
A cute pastel coloured building!
Somehow ended up at the heart of Wan Chai again.
Walked and walked and ended up at Elephant Grounds, the Sheung Wan branch.
It's a really small corner, set up at the back of a retail shop.
Hmmm
Elephant Grounds @ WOAW
11 Gough St, Central, Hong Kong
We have arrived at Munchies, which sells organic donuts and cookies.
S'mores donut from Munchies...lookin' real delicious there but the flavour was actually easily forgettable as the donut was quite dry by itself. Not sure if that attributed to the fact that the shop is now closed. We believe that October 2016 saw the last of the shop. Furthermore, the English-speaking young female staff (which we assumed was the owner) had a little haughty attitude going on....
Went past Oddies Foodies, which is known for their egg waffles and gelato. But mehhh, we gave it a pass.
STAIRS. AGAIN. Honestly think this is why I managed to clock more than 22,000 steps on this very day itself, lol.
Next up: Teakhaaaaaa!!!!! Been wanting to visit this place ever since I saw it online. I love tea so muchhh~
Twinkletea is here to drink tea!
Some homemade pastries and cakes available too.
The cafe itself is quite small, so there's an outdoor area for sitting during good weather too.
Cute and fuss-free set up, aye??
T E A K H A.
Keemun Rose Tea with a slice of Peach & Apple Salted Caramel Pie. We also ordered a cup of Caramelised Lemon Iced Tea that's not pictured here.
We sat at Teakha talking about lotsa things and everything for about the next hour or so before continuing with our walk around the area.
Teakha
Shop B, 18 Tai Ping Shan Street, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong
Verdict: A cute place for tea lovers, especially. The pastries can be improved on though, the pie was slightly dry. A great place for sitting down with a cuppa of tea after slow walks :)
After all that cafe exploring, we ended up at Hysan Place at Causeway Bay.
LINE Store!!!
Oh Brown, you charm me so~
After walking around the entire day without eating proper meals, we were starving by night time! And we settled for Ho Hung Kee at Hysan Place.
Ho Hung Kee is the first wonton-noodles restaurant to be awarded with a one Michelin star!
The decor was kinda luxe and royal, going for a robin egg blue colour scheme with marble finishing.
The famous wonton noodles~
Congee for me, please!
Some fried wontons to share.
Tucking in!
A shot to end the night, with our full tummies (and lotsa steps clocked for the day)!
Ho Hung Kee Congee and Noodle Shop 何洪记
1204-1205 Hysan Place, 500 Hennessy Road, Causeway Bay
Verdict: I know the wonton noodles are supposedly famous, but the congee was hella mind-blowing. Not even joking. It may be the best congee I've had in my entire life...I hope it's not because I was hungry at that point of time. Will definitely head back for a second round during our next trip to Hong Kong. It's also a good thing that this shop closes slightly later at 11pm than the rest of the eateries around the area, so we can walk around to the maximum before settling down for a good, warm meal.
Hong Kong Day 7 - The Last Day!
369 Restaurant, we ALWAYS walk past this restaurant but never ever went in to eat because it looked shady.
Since it was the last day of our trip, we checked out in a jiffy to maximise our time left on the island by heading to.. Day and Nite by Master Kama at Mong Kok.
We were here for their signature Lava Cheese Lobster Sandwich - served with fries and salad.
Cheese is always a good idea.
Unicorn Dream. I knew it won't be a wise choice to order something with such a name, but I fell for it anyway. It looked pretty and all, but OH WELL.
1 & 2/F, 50 Shan Tung Street, Mong Kok, Hong Kong
Verdict: Kindaaaa overrated on social media. The Lava Cheese Lobster Sandwich is worth a try if you're around the area and craving for something cheesy/Insta-worthy, but I won't be back for a second round.
Couldn't leave this island without having a bite of my favourite Kam Wah butter polo bun.
OK. Can fly back to Singapore in peace already.
Kam Wah Cafe
G/F, 47 Bute Street, Prince Edward
Verdict: We had this on our first trip to Hong Kong back in 2013, and it must be good enough for us to come back for a second round, right? Also, this polo bun is claimed to be the best around the island. Definitely lives up to its name, even the locals queue for it! Best to eat it hot and fresh. Yummmms.
