Good morning from Macau! Today is a really sad day for us in Macau because of Typhoon Haima!! Skies being gloomy all over were only just the beginning...
Using Colourpop's Ultra Matte Lip in Tulle here, it's actually one of my current favourite shades.
Had lunch at the food court at Venetian Shoppes as all the other restaurants were closed :( Only a select few were open, but none were really up to our palate. At least the "skies" at Venetian are always blue and bright, lol.
This was hellaaaaa goooood! The roasted duck glistening in all its glory, yums!
Tucking in!
Scenes along the canal~ These guys really sing their hearts out, the experience should be better than our own our little sampans rowing in the little canal at Marina Bay Sands.
Walking around aimlessly with less than a third of the shops open, we were also unable to visit the Ruins of St. Paul due to the weather.. We had purposely booked an early ferry out of Macau to go back to Hong Kong as we didn't want to spend another night here, but the typhoon was so bad that our ferry ride was delayed till further notice.... P/S: At least Sheraton Macao was kind enough to open up a ballroom for all the guests that needed a temporary resting place.
When it got nearer to evening time, the shop we've been waiting for is finally going to start operations!!! Look at that queue though.
We queued for none other than... Lord Stow's Bakery!
Holy shit, was it good? It's soooo good. Eat it while it's still piping hot because that's the best time to eat it. Fresh outta the oven! So happy I finally got to eat Portuguese egg tarts in Macau. No St. Paul, no problem, hehe. Totally craving for it now!!
Lord Stow's Bakery
870, Mask Street, Level 3, Shoppes at Venetian
Sunday - Thursday 10:00am - 11:00pm
Friday - Saturday 10:00am - 12:00am
Verdict: MUST TRY.
Mr Pablo
Anyway, after much waiting and aimless walking around of the area, we finally saw an update that the ferries were operating! We quickly collected our luggage from the hotel and took the shuttle bus to Taipa Temporary Ferry Terminal....and this was what greeted us. Actually no, this was after queuing up for maybe an hour among all the locals and China tourists... Also, we heard there's only one ferry that is currently sailing up and down between Macau and Hong Kong. That explains the wait..
We took the ferry to Sheung Wan Ferry Terminal, which is just beside Sheung Wan MTR. The ferry ride was horrible, the seats were all filled up and where's the first class treatment when we really need it!? Lol. Felt a little sea sick by the end of the 1 hour ferry ride but hey, look what greeted us next at Renaissance Hong Kong Harbour View Hotel!
Anyway, shout out to the friends and family who texted and were worried about us during the entire Typhoon Haima incident. Thankful for you guys and your concern. The media really does like to exaggerate and show the worst parts of the news sometimes!
A clean bathroom after a long day of battling Typhoon Haima makes me wanna cry :')
Can't ask for more (((: Other than a bath tub in the room though, cos the hotel shifted us to a bigger room with a bathtub the very next day!
Hong Kong Day 1
Ahhhhh, Hong Kong!! We're back! The air is slightly fresher here than at Macau. One big morning queue and queue for...Australia Dairy Company!
The queue was long but the waiting time was around 20 minutes for our turn because the people in Hong Kong eat and run, eat and run. Especially for their breakfasts, I think.
We ordered in a hurry and just got one of the breakfast sets because the staff kept chasing us to order quick. It's quite annoying and we can't enjoy our breakfast properly. Also, it's very very squeezy inside and we had to share a small table with another couple who look quite amused with our incapability to order as fast as how we should have.
The next time you visit Australian Milk Company, just order one of these sets...
I was quite full but I couldn't miss out on ordering a bowl of their hot steamed milk!! Super, super love hot steamed milk and I must have it while in Hong Kong.
Australia Dairy Company 澳洲牛奶公司
47 Parkes Street, Hong Kong
Daily (except Thu): 7.30am – 11pm
Nearest MTR Station: Jordan
Verdict: Love the steamed milk and iced milk tea, the sandwich and macaroni not so, but the scrambled eggs were good. Be prepared to eat and get your ass outta thee within 15 minutes of sitting down.
Next up, we took MTR from Jordan to Mong Kok for some street shopping. Here's Fa Yuen Street.
Goldfish Market in Hong Kong.
Sneaker Street.
Their signature evening performances at the streets of Mongkok. This was a Japanese guy dressed up as Wally!
Walking around for the entire day made us hungry, so we went to Dim Sum Icon at Tsim Sha Tsui for late dinner around 9pm. This place is toooo cute, but too crowded too even at such a timing.
You'll be given a number, then wait for the staff to call out your number in Cantonese. Challenge accepted!
We waited pretty long, about an hour? I don't quite remember but hey, it's gonna be worth the wait because of this guy right?
Crayon Shin Chan, 蜡笔小新, everywhere!!
It's hard trying to decide what to order because you wanna order Instagram-worthy items yet you may not necessarily wanna eat them. Also, you wanna order some items that you really wanna eat but...they ain't Instagram-worthy. #firstworldproblem
Even the table setting is Crayon Shin Chan-inspired *inserts heart eyes emoji
Dishes took quite a while to come and came one by one. This was some kinda fried prawn dumpling with googly eyes hahaha. The eyes are sweets! The fried dumplings were good though, we finished them up before the rest of the items came.
Chee cheong fun featuring a sleeping Crayon Shin Chan, lol!!
Happy 3 har gow friends.
TOO CUTE. Piggy custard buns!
This bun was dried up by the time we finished taking photos. W squeezed the bun till it got flat but no milk custard came out, it was quite a funny sight haha. That mouth though, lolol.
Weeeee, Hong Kong bucket list checked!
Dim Sum Icon Tsim Sha Tsui
L308, 3/F, The ONE, 100 Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong
Daily: 11am – 11pm
Nearest MTR Station: Tsim Sha Tsui
Verdict: Yes to the dim sum, quite legit despite it being character-themed. But I'll prolly not queue so long for it again, unless they collaborate with a character that I really like. There's another branch at Central too.
This was what happened after we got back to our hotel at Wan Chai. W scrubbing me shoessss for meeeee!
We bought Crep Protect CURE Ultimate Sneaker Cleaning Kit from a store at Sneaker Street earlier on and managed to put it to the test. What do you think, got difference!? I say yes! ;)
