Hong Kong Day 3

Day 3 was spent venturing around Central and Sheung Wan, which are full of hipster eateries and shops.

Many little cafes all around the area.

W gave me this CDG tee and I love it! :)

This cafe was pretty crowded!

Streets of Sheung Wan~

Towards Hollywood Road, after climbing the entire flight of stairs at Ladder Street!

Found the place that we wanted to try...

Grassroots Pantry!

Grassroots Pantry focuses on organic and vegan food and drink options, with the motto "To make food do good".

The menu is made up of food and drink illustrations of the real thing, pretty cute.

My Poached Egg and Smashed Avo. Kale, kale and more kale!

His Cinnamon French Toast.

And this was W's coffee with coconut milk.

Hmmmm, poached eggs never fail!! My Maca-tcha Smoothie at the back.

Gotta admit that both of us are definitely carnivores, vegan ain't the way to go for us man. We were so deprived of some kind of meat during brunch that we were both still hungry after our mains. Couldn't help it but to order their Popcorn "Chicken". Turned out that it tasted amazing and was the best vegan side everrrr! It's fried battered hedgehog mushrooms with a coconut kefir sour cream dip. So, so, good!! The texture of the hedgehog mushrooms was just like chicken, yums!

Verdict: A vegan's heaven. Please try the Popcorn "Chicken"! It's so good you may want to change your mind and become a vegan thereafter, just kidding.

After brunch, we continued to walk around the area.. Hong Kong is just so dense...

Ventured into a little market selling some knick knacks.

Graffiti on wall, so fierceeeeee.

We chanced upon this little baking shop called Pantry Magic, it was sooo cute! The decor made it look like you could smell baking aromas outta that shop.

SO PRETTY. I would buy down the entire store if my wallet allowed me to~

W and I bought some baking trays and stuff back for our weekly baking adventures. However, it is currently January 2017 and sad to say, we have yet to use them...hahaha.

Next up, we walked to Starbucks @ Duddell Street. A side note, we really walked a lot on this day. I think I clocked more than 20,000 steps on this day alone! Not to mention all that staircase climbing, phew! Starbucks at Duddell Street is worth the visit if you're just passing by the area. Definitely overhyped... In fact, only a part of the cafe is done up Hong Kong style, the other half was just like the normal Starbucks.

Shop M2, Mezzanine Floor, Baskerville House, 13 Duddell Street, Central

Verdict: Come once for the photos and for the sake of it, no more next time...unless you're in the area and really craving for Starbucks.

The rest of the day at Central and Sheung Wan walking around and shopping. Bought this top from ZARA, can never get enough of blue/white striped shirts.

This cute shoe would have gone well with my new top, hee.

Honestly, I forgot what we did for the day other than we went to Causeway Bay and walked around the malls there, such as La Foret, Island Beverly Centre, Hysan Place, the super huge Forever 21 (but sadly, it's closing down soon, boohoo! Do visit the new F21 at Mongkok though!)... We were so hungry by night time and we initially wanted to eat late night discounted sushi at the same place as where we did 3 years ago, but it closed down!! Itacho Sushi nearby was also closed. So...we had to head to Times Square to have Budaoweng as that was the only thing open that had what we were craving for...

Being welcomed by a posh setting in a hot pot restaurant.

My favourite sauces and condiments to mix, garlic and more garlic please!

Omg, the hot pot was so good. We had some difficulties ordering off the menu as everything was in traditional Chinese. There's a 20% off on selected menu items after 10pm I think. We ordered half dang gui chicken and the waitress poured the entire inside the soup and it turned out to be heavenly. So damn good, so good that now every time we go to Hai Di Lao, we keep requesting for the strongest flavour for the chicken soup but meh, nothing tastes as good as Budaoweng's!

Black pork.

At the end of the meal, we be like. HAHAHA. Anyway, we didn't get to finish the meal properly as they were rushing to do closing and I think we over-ordered. I was quite shocked to see the waiter throw away all the untouched ingredients in front of us, into the trash! Super wasteful and it made me feel so guilty for ordering all that. The only bad thing about this place is that they don't serve half portions like how HDL does...causes so much food wastage :(

Budaoweng Hotpot Cuisine 不倒翁
Shop 1001, 11/F, Times Square, 1 Matheson Street Causeway Bay

Verdict: Awesome hot pot, if you love a good chicken soup, order at least a half dang gui chicken and add the entire thing to the soup! Love the posh setting, the many ingredients available and the fact that it's open from 9am to 1am everyday. But the service could have been slightly better and I hope they allow customers to order half portions in the future. Another downside would be the price point, we paid >$120 for the both of us.

Hong Kong Day 4

Day 4 started with the morning at HarbourCity where we didn't find any food fancy to our tastebuds. Hence, we had our favourite Nissin cheese noodles with grilled pork cheek for lunch at Sun Kee Cheese Noodles! Second time back here, love it!!!

Can't miss out on an order of milk tea when you're in Hong Kong ;)

Just realized there is a Nicholas Tse lookalike in my photo, hahaha.

Yummmmy, my favourite and must eat in Hong Kong!

Trying to get him to do the Edison Chen pose like how he did 3 years ago, lol!! Just realized we ate these noodles on the 4th day of our trip back in 2013.

Back at my favourite cheese noodles place 🧀🍜💕

Sun Kee Cheese Noodles

Champagne Court 16-20, GF 13-14, Kimberley Rd Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong

Verdict: If you're a cheese lover like me, you can't miss this. The marination on the grilled pork cheek is so good. The TST branch is slightly dilapidated and a little hard to find. I heard they have a brand new, bigger branch at Wan Chai now.

We also happened to pass by Star Cafe at Champagne Court's basement. Mostly made up of locals, but not as crowded.

Near Champagne Court in TST is Emack & Bolio's, known for their towering ice cream cones.

We couldn't resist getting one in the sweltering heat. Indeed, the ice cream melted very quickly~ If I'm not wrong, we had the Space Cake Ice Cream and Salted Caramel Chocolate Pretzel Ice Cream on a Fruit Loops Marsh "Mellow" Cone. The sweetness from the marshmallow cone got too overpowering in the end that we didn't manage to finish the entire thing. Well, #doitforthegram.

Shop G42, GF, Miramar Shopping Centre, 132 Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui

Verdict: Good for Instagram, bad for the calories and cavities ;p

Next up after lunch and dessert was Sneaker Street, yet again!

Spent the entire afternoon shopping around TST. Went back to hotel to put down our shopping loot and headed out again (after changing into sneakers because the boots became unbearable, heh)

We decided to walk around our hotel area, which was at Wan Chai. Heard about the Star Street, Moon Street and Sun Street here and found the names of the streets so cute.

After walking rounds and rounds, we decided to settle for Ted's Lookout in the Wan Chai neighbourhood.

Fancy some tacos?

Spread for the night because we were so hungry. Taco platter, nacho basket, spicy BBQ corn and truffle frites.

Taco Platter - a sampler of 4 tacos including Mexican Chorizo, Beef Carnitas, Signature Fish and Grilled Tiger Prawns.

Spicy BBQ Corn

Truffle frites were helllaaaaa good, but the truffle taste/aroma could be stronger. I always wonder how these shops get their fries done, always crispy and light.

We wanted to try some of their cocktails but...probably another day when we were less full. Hehe.

A selfie to end the night...~

Ted's Lookout
G/F, Moonful Court, No. 17A, Moon Street, Wan Chai, Hong Kong, 5533 9369

Verdict: A great, hidden tucked away bar at Wan Chai with super chill vibes. Perfect for the romantic date or a Friday night out after work. Love the atmosphere, the service and the people! A lovely place to chill with interesting cocktail choices and awesome Mexican-influenced nosh.
