060 - Dazzling, or not?

Woody and I managed to find some time off on a weekend to head down to the much hyped about Dazzling Cafe at the newly opened Capitol Piazza. We've been to Dazzling Cafe at Zhong Xiao Dong Lu, Taipei, about 3 years back. I remember having a caramel honey toast back then (you can read that post HERE), but that's not available in Singapore. Judging from the menus from both Singapore and Taiwan, the Singapore version is of course, very much less extensive.

Dazzling Cafe offers appetizers as well as main courses in their menu, and it was such a pleasant surprise to find Creme Brulee latte inside their drinks menu! That's exactly what we had back in Taipei then! I remember liking it a lot, and I can't find other nice creme brulee lattes in Singapore.

Tadahhhh, such love ♥ Really like how they glazed the top of the latte so the sugar crystals melted on top, just like a real creme brulee dessert.

We ordered a kiwi slushie, but they served us the fruit punch one. They mixed up our orders, then asked if we were okay to settle for the fruit punch one instead as the kiwi drink is sold out. Okayyyy...but the drink was okay only too.

The star of the day, Matcha Honey Toast with Azuki Beans ($19.90)! Based on past experience, we knew that the staff will want to help us dissect this complicated looking honey toast. We managed to snap a few photos quickly before getting the server to help us "cut" it up.

In the end, this was what was presented to us. The server used the mini tong to shift the top layer of the toast to the side and placed a small piece of toast on each of our plate. I was like, that's all...? We could have done it ourselves and not be so pressured to take those photos quickly, heh.

The verdict....not going back. The caramel honey toast back in Taipei costs just SGD$10, while the matcha one here costs $19.90!? That's basically daylight robbery. Plus, we didn't manage to finish the toast despite there being two of us. I could see from the dish clearing area that it's not just us who didn't finish our toast. We sat at the mezzanine level of Dazzling Cafe, and it felt squeezy and slightly less glamorous than what was being portrayed online/in photos. So...pretty much overhyped, I guess? There was also no queue when we went on a Saturday afternoon at 3pm, and they chased us out 3 hours later....okay, bye.

But, Capitol Piazza itself is very white and pretty, and we managed to see this while walking around.

And a really grainy iPhone taken #ootd to end off the post.

P/S: Currently trying to have a new blog post every Tuesday night, do bear with me!
