049 - #wmkorea13 Travelogue {Day 2}

By Melody Tan - 2/24/2014 10:46:00 PM

Finally able to squeeze out some time to create this post, I know it's been long due. Churning out one post per month isn't going to be the solution as well... I just get really lazy to blog because a whole day worth of work really burns me out. Nevertheless, here's my Day 2 in Jeju!

We hired a driver to take us around Jeju today, it costed us about SGD$150. We showed him our planned Jeju itinerary, but he suggested another one to us... First stop - Mini Mini Land! We had an average of 45 minutes to 1 hour for each destination.

It was raining, so the kind driver lent us his umbrella.

Jeju is famous for their black pigs!

Cccold and gloomy morning :(

Our ultimate dream, someday!!

Jeju Mini Land (제주미니랜드)
606, Bijarim-ro, Jocheon-eup, Jeju-si, Jeju-do
제주특별자치도 제주시 조천읍 비자림로 606

Verdict: Go only if you like to see the famous attractions from around the world, or only if you want to feel like a giant.

Next stop...Trick Art Museum! Heard loads about this museum and finally got to check it out myself!

Trick Art Museum (트릭아트뮤지엄)
2644, Beon yeong-ro, Pyoseon-myeon, Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do
제주특별자치도 서귀포시 표선면 번영로 2644

Verdict: Quite interesting, but some photos are quite lame. Also, you'll need a good photographer partner who really knows how to take photos in different angles.

It's a real black pig, and it's alive!!!!! Our driver dropped us here for a short trip, we didn't plan on coming here.. There was this Korean lady who brought us around and introduced the entire folk village to us and eventually brought us into a room to try to sell powdered horse bones to us (apparently it's good for our bones and joints). The lady spoke in fluent Mandarin and sad to say, her Mandarin seems to be better than mine. Of course we didn't purchase anything there, glad she wasn't too pushy. P/S: The horse bone powder costs around SGD$400++.

Jeju Folk Village Museum (제주민속촌박물관)
631-34, Minsokhaean-ro, Pyoseon-myeon, Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do
제주특별자치도 서귀포시 표선면 민속해안로 631-34

Verdict: I didn't want to come here.... The only highlight was to see a live and huge black pig!

Next stop was to Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak, otherwise known as Sunrise Peak!

Our driver directed this shot. Yup.

We rushed for the Haenyeo Women Divers' performance at 1:30PM! There are 2 shows daily, 1:30PM and 3:30PM. Here they are singing an opening song, so cute. The diver nearest to us is singing slower than the rest by a beat, so it sounds like she is just mumbling to herself a repeat of the song. Hahaha.

Off they go to dive for seafood!

First to be back with.....

An octopus!!!

Trying to sell the octopus away... I remember it wasn't cheap!

Managed to get a precious shot with one of the friendlier haenyeo!

Gorgeous, gorgeous sight...

A panorama for you, you're welcome.

Yayyyy, love love ^^ ♥

Look at this dog shaped mountain! We saw it while climbing up the peak.... Gosh it was so so tiring we were totally out of stamina and had to rest quite a few times. I feel ashamed when I see the elderly couples climbing up the peak slowly and steadily..

And finally, we made it to the top of the peak!!!!!!!

Mission accomplished! It felt so good to be able to climb all the way up, satisfaction level 100%!! Also, this was unplanned for as we didn't include the Sunrise Peak in our itinerary. I think this may just be the highlight of my Jeju trip :D

You will have a perfect view of the crater, which is about 600m in diameter and 90m high!

Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak (성산일출봉)
284-12, Ilchul-ro, Seongsan-eup, Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do
제주특별자치도 서귀포시 성산읍 일출로 284-12

Verdict: It's a UNESCO World Heritage site, so why not!!!?

We stopped by a small eatery for lunch. We had kimchi stew and dolsot bibimbap, the best dolsot bibimbap we've ever had, hands down!! Or maybe cos we were hungry from climbing that peak OR maybe cos the weather was really cold! I'm sorry I don't have any idea where this is located because our driver brought us there, and apparently it's the only shop that sells dolsot bibimbap in Jeju!

Next up, we went to Manjanggul Cave!

It was dark, slippery and wet inside... We didn't manage to finish the entire route since we didn't have enough time. It's a dead end at the end of the route anyway, so we walked prolly about half of the route towards the end, then back.

Manjanggul Cave (만장굴)
3341-3, Gimnyeong-ri, Gujwa-eup, Jeju-si, Jeju-do
제주 제주시 구좌읍 김령리 3341-3

Verdict: This is a UNESCO World Heritage site too, and it really was quite cool to see the lava stalagmites and how the lava used to flow through the tube tunnel.

Lastly, we went to Loveland!!

Ahem.

Titty hills! :O

Mini figurines depicting different sexual situations.

Self-timer #fail.

Jeju Love Land (제주러브랜드)
2894-72, Cheonbaengi-ro, Jeju-si, Jeju-do
제주특별자치도 제주시 1100로 2894-72 (연동)

Verdict: Everything is about sex, genitals, sex, sex and more sex. Hahahah, quite interesting and a big theme park, may need some time to walk and finish everything. However, what you see online is what you get. There's a sex shop inside too.

Dinner time was at somewhere in Jeju City, here we are to try the famous abalone porridge!

Ended up I was the only one eating, finishing up the entire bowl because my boyfriend hates the smell/taste. ALL MINE THEN!!!

He had some roasted sweet potatoes off the streets instead. But really comforting in the cold weather!

Settled down at Caffe Bene that night...

With honey toast, milk tea latte and misagaru latte!! I love how Korea has soooo many types of latte that I can keep trying new flavors each and every time! And Caffe Bene also turned out to be my favorite of my favorite cafe. ♥♥♥

That marked the end of our Day 2 in Korea and end of the Jeju trip!
