We've been back on the trail for cafe hopping around Singapore recently. Not for no reason though. We are trying to find out what makes a good cuppa of specialty coffee that Singaporeans flock to these days.
Cafe hopping used to be a weekly thing for many locals. I remember back in the early 2010s, I was one of those that visited Stateland, Strangers Reunion, Chye Seng Huat, Group Therapy, Necessary Provisions, just to name a few! And Habitat Coffee was the first place I had truffle fries at, if my memory doesn't fail me. We eventually stopped because we felt like it was a waste of money since these cafes can be quite overpriced at times, and of course, because we opened up our own cafe.
So, is it the interior, ambience, service, championship baristas, the filter brews, the self-roasted beans, the coffee equipment, the coffee cups used, the amount of natural sunlight that falls in, the amount of space they have for OOTD shots or the number of power plugs available?
On 26 Jan, we picked Alchemist. More specifically, the outlet at Khong Guan Building.
High ceiling with ample sunlight
A white and a hand brew.
And a casual outfit.
Maybe it's good mix of all the above factors after all.
