Had dinner with my parents and W before checking in. There wasn't much time in December that I could sit down properly to dine with my parents. I hope this dinner made up for it!
We settled at Crystal Jade Restaurant at Terminal 2 of Changi Airport.
Time to check in our luggage and get the boarding passes! How exciting!! Am taking Korean Air for the first time.
Changed into warmer wear, was wearing shorter stuff because it's so hot in Singapore! And this photo shows W and I's matching camouflage prints, from his perspective.
I need to change my passport holder.
I was still full from the dinner earlier on, so I only put in half the rice into my bibimbap!
Mini gochujang paste to make your own DIY bibimbap, that got us so excited already. Hahaha.
After a six hours plus worth of flight, we touched down on kimchi land at around 6AM KST. Look at the crowd already! You know this shit's for real when you start seeing Hangul characters all around!! By the way, Korean Air was so comfortable. Maybe I was just too tired, I slept throughout and couldn't even make it through a quarter of the movie I was watching (Stuck in Love).
Do you spot our matching luggage?
Stopped by our first cafe - Cafe Pasucci to rest for a while and wait for 7AM.
We went to K Books to collect our SIM cards. They only open at 7AM and you'll have to reserve the SIM cards online before you fly over. We got ours from EG.
Managed to hop onto the AREX, en route to Gimpo Airport from Incheon Airport.
Saw the first snow (on the ground) in Korea, watched the sun rise. It was beautiful.
Our boarding passes for Jeju Air. We decided to go to Jeju first before Seoul. There were some hiccups experienced while the staff were trying to check for our bookings. Made us wait for quite a bit. Thank goodness we had ample time because we took the early train to Gimpo.
They served juice and sung songs so it wasn't so bad. The singing woke me up though.
All the air stewardesses kinda look alike...
Jeju Airport!
We cabbed from the airport to Hotel W (not to be confused with W Hotel). It took about 10 minutes. We had an early check-in and the room was so spacious! Pretty okay to me.
A nearby convenience store for snacks and drinks after napping for 1 to 2 hours or so because we were tired from the travelling!
First stop in Jeju - Teseum! We took a cab here from our hotel, took about 15 minutes maybe?
The baby polar bear moves and it's so cute!
Not called a Teddy Bear Safari for nothing!
Bear pimp in da house yo
Bears of all sizes and all costumes, hahah.
He loves me!
Or maybe not... :(
Nothing much, just hanging out with my beary best friends!
Found these a little creepy, they remind me of the baby in Teletubbies.
W and I formed a band with them..
Eeeps, meditating in a cave!?
I'd like to purchase that human being, please.
Wonder Girls! I miss them.
The biggest teddy bear EVER!!!!!!
The most expensive teddy bear ever!!!!!
Bears from all countries around the world.
Saying goodbye to the bears~~
Spotted this van just outside the museum, it was dark already. The night turns dark really quickly in the winter.
Bought tteokbokki, my favourite :) As we were eating, it snowed! It was like rain but really small ice particles that looked white when landed on our outerwear and hair. How awesome!!!
We headed to Dongmun Market after that, but most shops were already closed. We tried walking there but it turned out that the Maps app on W's phone gave us the wrong directions. It was actually a 20 minutes cab ride from where we were! Please don't ever use that app, use Google Maps instead. I swear by it.
Got to try their tangerines, really sweet and juicy, but we didn't buy any back.
Next up, Jungang Underground Shopping Mall, which was just beside the market.
There was a Daiso right outside. Their Daiso is different because it sells stuff of different values, but still kinda affordable.
Fooling around in a Korean Daiso.
We eventually bought this furry bear hat (5,000W), a Christmas fun hairband (1,000W) and some snacks.
Inside the underground mall, nothing much but there are a few nice shops. Quite expensive though, didn't buy anything there.
Taken inside the mall.
We wanted to go to Loveland after that, but decided to just have a good Korean BBQ dinner at Heuk Don Ga instead and rest for the night.
How can you not eat black pig BBQ when you come to Jeju? ;)
They purposely leave some black hair on the pig's skin to prove it's black pig meat. But.....
Banchan.
Traditional food - scorched rice! Came with a vegetable soup so you can eat it together.
Yummy! The ahjumma cooking it for us. W doesn't like the ahjumma because she didn't allow him to order just 1 portion of black pig, we had to order 2 at one go. But to be honest, whatever works. I'm just hungry and I didn't want anything to spoil my first day in Korea!
We took a cab back towards our hotel, but stopped at this Jeju Cultural Street to do some walking around and exploring. Realized that this shopping street is actually very near our hotel!
Yepppp, TOP SHOP for ya.
We settled down in Paris Baguette, which was open 24 hours. Wow.
My purple sweet potato latte which I so love!!! I wish they had this in Singapore :(
Ah, wonderful start to our Korea trip... :)
Till the next #wmkorea13 post!
